Pharmacies have birthdays too. And we should celebrate them! My long-time friend and fellow pharmacist is preparing to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of his grand opening in Methuen, MA. The celebration will be going on Saturday April 12, 2014 from noon until 4:00PM.
I’m happy for Jitendra. But I’m even more happy for the hundreds of patients he has been able to serve over the past year – and the many thousands of lives he will touch in the years to come.
Pharmacies have birthdays too. And in honor of this impressive achievement I asked my friend a couple questions about pharmacy ownership as he approaches this important milestone.
Jitendra, a while back we did an interview about your grand opening. A lot of my readers may not understand why someone would undertake the challenges of opening an independent pharmacy today. Could you explain to us why you did this?
“Sure Jason. It’s really about service. For example, there isn’t a community pharmacy in the area providing FREE prescription delivery to homes, businesses, assisted living, or retirement communities. We can do this. Furthermore, our goal is to provide personalized one-on-one consultations and help patients stay healthy and manage their chronic health conditions while providing great customer service. We can provide support, education and tools – not only for patients – but also for caregivers, or other family members who may be involved with care .”
Now that you have been open for a year, would you mind sharing with my readers and fellow pharmacists some of the lessons you have learned?
“The most important thing I learned from this first year was about the opportunity to serve patients with Adherence and Compliance tools. It is so important that patients take their medicine on time. We are here to help them out by providing FREE Blister Package service and will oraganize the medicine for them.
Additionally I learned about their difficulty with transportation to get their medicine- we have solution for that too- FREE DELIVERY!
Once again, I discovered just how important great service is. We have professional, courteous and friendly staff to provide great customer service
Product selection, value and convenience are important too; so we provide Home medical equipment, Vaccinations, and Drive thru We accept all insurance plans and patients pay the same co-pay as the chain store.
I also learned that patients sometimes think transferring prescriptions from another pharmacy is complicated and lots of work. It’s not. Here at Neighborhood Healthmart Pharmacy we make it very easy. Just stop by at our pharmacy or call , we will do the rest by calling the other pharmacy or doctors for them.”
Pharmacies have birthdays too. I’m excited to be part of this celebration by posting this blog for my friend.
